TWOONE aka Hiroyasu Tsuri

WAADAWCGTWOI - Hiroyasu Tsuri

In 2017, Tsuri released *We Are All Different And We Can Get Together With One Interest*, a 203-page book that documents his travels and interactions worldwide. The book features a series of photographs captured using 35mm film cameras, enhanced by Tsuri’s unique technique of scratching certain images, often replacing faces with skulls, animals, or words. This process gives the work an evocative, tactile quality, reflecting the artist’s experiences and observations.

Tsuri employed two vintage cameras for this project: an Olympus Pen EE 2 and an Olympus Trip 35. The former, produced from 1968 to 1977, is a 35mm half-frame camera, while the latter, a point-and-shoot model with a solar-powered selenium light meter, was manufactured from 1967 to 1984. Both cameras contributed to the distinct aesthetic of the images, characterized by spontaneity and a raw, documentary style.

The book was also released as a special edition of 100 copies, each hand-signed and numbered by the artist. This edition includes a unique black-and-white printed index section, adding a tangible element that aligns with Tsuri’s vision. The collection, a blend of art and daily adventure, offers a thoughtful portrayal of urban environments, combining beauty, playfulness, and a deep sense of empathy.

Format: Printed. Soft cover, Gloss stock, with a unique handmade inner section.
Size: 178 mm x 215 mm, Pages: 203.
